The years 1951 and 1952 saw their share of excitement as the world left behind the dawn of the new decade and moved slowly into the mid 1950s. This period was in the midst of the Korean War and the McCarthy Era. It saw great improvments in both American and Soviet military technology. The Rosenburgs were accused, tried, convicted, and killed.

The McCarthy Era set the tone for the rest of the Cold War. The people of the United States did not know what to think as Senator McCarthy black listed people from fellow legislators to Hollywood producers.

On the other side, the Stalinist period was slowly coming towards the end, unbeknownst to the citizens of the Soviet Union.

These two years were a time of great prosperity in the United States, and also to an extent in the Soviet Union, but they were not without their share of pain and hardship for many citizens.
